Biomni AI Agent Acts as Biomedical Co-Scientist

Stanford University researchers have developed an AI-powered biomedical research agent designed to act as an AI co-scientist in carrying out complex scientific workflows, rather than simply answering questions. The Biomni system can read literature, form hypotheses, choose datasets and tools, write code, interpret results, and suggest follow-up experiments. In one example, Biomni analyzed more than 450 files of glucose, food intake, and activity data in 40 minutes, a task researchers estimated would take a human more than 60 hours.
